The National Agency of Natural Resources (AKBN) took part in the Annual Dialogue on Critical and Strategic Raw Materials, under the theme “From Strategy to Action: CRM Albania in the Era of the Green Transition”. The event was organized by the Regional Innovation Center for Raw Materials of EIT RawMaterials in Albania, in cooperation with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy.
This important forum brought together representatives from the Albanian Government, the European Union, technical and academic institutions, the mining industry, and international partners. Discussions focused on the growing importance of critical raw materials for Albania’s economic development and European integration, as well as the need for strengthened institutional and international cooperation.
In his remarks, AKBN’s Executive Director, Mr. Genci Tërpo, emphasized the Agency’s commitment to fostering sustainable investments and collaboration with all stakeholders engaged in the field of critical raw materials. He underlined AKBN’s readiness to play an active role in implementing both national and European strategies, thereby contributing to the green transition and the sustainable development of the mining sector.
During the event, two key documents were presented:
- Roadmap on the potential of critical and strategic raw materials in Albania – Phase 1, which includes an assessment of mineral resources such as chromium, nickel, cobalt, rare earth elements, vanadium, and titanium.
- Strategic Framework for the Development of the Mining Sector 2026–2040, outlining the long-term vision for the sustainable exploitation, processing, and recycling of the country’s mineral resources.
