AKBN Represents Albania at European Forum on Energy Statistics

The National Agency of Natural Resources (AKBN) participated in the latest meeting of the Energy Statistics Working Group (ESWG), organized by Eurostat in Luxembourg, on 14–16 April 2026. In this important European forum Albania was represented by AKBN, as the institution responsible for compiling and reporting energy statistics.

The meeting brought together experts from EU Member States, candidate countries, and international organizations such as Eurostat, IEA, IRENA, and the Energy Community Secretariat, focusing on the latest developments in energy statistics, methodological improvements, and strengthening inter-institutional cooperation.

Key issues discussed during the sessions included the update of Regulation (EC) No. 1099/2008 on energy statistics, international developments and European policies in the energy sector, improvement of data quality and consistency, use of administrative sources and reusable databases, developments in renewable energy and hydrogen statistics, energy price reporting and methodological challenges, as well as innovative projects such as smart meters and the digital model of building stock.
